Greetings all! It's been awhile, but thank you for visiting elliejarrettmezzo.com! I just finished a wonderful summer in Santa Fe working as a 2011 Santa Fe Apprentice Artist. I worked in the chorus for four of the five operas presented including Faust, La Bohème, The Last Savage, and Wozzeck. The program lasted from June 2nd until August 27th. I was given the opportunity to cover Jamie Barton as Marthe in Gounod's Faust, along with other outside engagements such as Vanessie's, the Santa Fe Center for Contemporary Art, local churches and master classes. I also performed Mrs. Bassett in a scene from Lee Hoiby's Summer and Smoke with several of my colleagues to a very full Santa Fe Opera House...in many way, a big highlight for me!
The entire summer was full of experiences I will never forget, such as Joyce DiDonato's Master Class, working with Reri Grist and Evelyn Leer, coaching with Ben Malensek, Scott Gilmore, Dottie Byrne, and of course, working (and enjoying it) with the infamous Matthew Epstein...
My time at Nashville Opera prepared me extremely well for the challenges of Santa Fe. Under the direction of John Hoomes for both Le nozze di Figaro and Carmen, I was able to test my strengths for both the Nashville Opera audience as well as the audience for Opera Columbus. I also spent 6 weeks performing The Brothers Grimm a children's opera written by Canadian composer, Dean Burry. Under the direction of Stuart Holt, I learned how to manage my voice for two to three performances per day, many starting as early as 8:30am, lasting for six weeks!
Thank you for stopping by and I will update as things happen. Currently, I am living in Austin preparing for another round of auditions for the Fall Season.
Welcome to elliejarrettmezzo.com! I recently spent the summer in Aspen, CO performing Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and The Woman with Hat/Living Duchess in John Corigliano's Ghosts of Versailles. The program lasted eight weeks, was a tremendous learning experience and an invaluable opportunity to work with wonderful opera professionals. This time in Aspen has helped prepare me for my upcoming time in Nashville, TN. I will be a Mary Ragland Young Artist for the Nashville Opera Company January - April of 2011, performing Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro and Mercédès in Carmen.
Currently I am teaching private voice lessons, and have a studio of around 10 students that I teach weekly. I have just completed and mailed many applications hoping to receive auditions for the next season, and I will continue to coach as I begin to prepare the roles for Nashville. Thank you for visiting my website, and check back monthly for updates!
